As a military veteran with over 20 years of service, I understand the unique challenges veterans face during and after military life. Returning home or transitioning to civilian life can bring difficulties such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. You may feel disconnected from family and friends, struggle with emotional regulation, or find it hard to adjust to life outside the military.

Why Therapy Helps Veterans:

Understanding Your Story: Exploreing how past experiences—both within and before military service—shape your current thoughts, emotions, and relationships. By gaining insight into unconscious patterns, you can understand why certain challenges persist and how to navigate them.

Emotional Healing: Military life often involves intense experiences that leave lasting emotional impacts. Through guided reflection and exploration, we work together to process these experiences and uncover the underlying conflicts that may contribute to PTSD, anxiety, or depression.

Tailored Treatment Plans: Each veteran’s journey is unique. I develop personalized therapy plans that combine psychodynamic insight with practical strategies, helping you connect with your emotions, strengthen relationships, and reclaim a sense of well-being.

Your service deserves recognition and support. Take the first step toward understanding yourself, processing your experiences, and building a fulfilling post-military life—therapy is available in Spokane and via telehealth across Idaho.

As a man, you face unique experiences, expectations, and pressures in today’s world. Whether you are navigating stress, relationship challenges, career transitions, or personal growth, psychodynamic therapy can provide a transformative space to better understand yourself, your patterns, and your emotions.

At Uncommon Connections Therapy, I specialize in creating a safe, non-judgmental environment for men to explore their thoughts and feelings. Through insight-oriented therapy, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and societal pressures shape your behavior and emotional life.

Why Therapy for Men Works:

Understanding Yourself: We explore the underlying causes of recurring challenges, such as anger, anxiety, depression, or relational conflicts, uncovering unconscious patterns that influence your thoughts and actions.

Exploring Emotions Safely: Many men are taught to suppress emotions.  Therapy provides a space to acknowledge and process feelings, helping you develop emotional awareness and resilience.

Improving Relationships: By understanding your relational patterns, you can enhance communication, intimacy, and connection with partners, family, and friends.

Personal Growth and Authenticity: Therapy supports self-reflection, helping you clarify your values, goals, and desires. This insight empowers you to live more authentically, build confidence, and navigate life with purpose.

Investing in your mental and emotional well-being is a powerful decision.  Therapy offers a path to insight, growth, and meaningful change. Whether in Spokane or via telehealth in Idaho, I am here to support your journey toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Being a teenager is an exciting but sometimes overwhelming time filled with growth, self-discovery, and complex emotions. At Uncommon Connections Therapy, I provide specialized teen therapy that helps adolescents explore their inner experiences, build resilience, and develop a strong sense of self.

Understanding the Teen Experience
Adolescence brings unique challenges, including academic pressures, social stress, self-esteem concerns, peer relationships, family conflicts, and emotional regulation. Using a psychodynamic approach, I help teens uncover how past experiences, family dynamics, and unconscious patterns influence their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This understanding empowers teens to make meaningful changes and develop healthier coping strategies.

Building Emotional Awareness and Coping Skills
Life’s ups and downs can feel intense during adolescence. I work with teens to identify and process emotions, understand the roots of their feelings, and develop practical strategies for stress management, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. This insight-oriented approach strengthens resilience and supports long-term emotional well-being.

Improving Communication and Relationships
Healthy communication is essential for navigating friendships, family dynamics, and other relationships. I help teens express themselves more effectively, set boundaries, and develop stronger connections. Family therapy sessions are also available to foster understanding, improve communication, and create a supportive home environment.

Navigating Transitions and Identity Development
Adolescence often involves major life transitions, from school changes to shifting family dynamics. Through psychodynamic exploration, teens gain clarity about their identity, values, and goals, allowing them to approach life changes with confidence and self-awareness.

Addressing Mental Health Concerns
Teen therapy can help with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, trauma, behavioral challenges, and other mental health concerns. By combining psychodynamic insight with evidence-based strategies, I provide individualized support tailored to each teen’s needs.

Taking the first step toward teen therapy can transform your teenager’s experience. I provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to help them explore their emotions, build coping skills, and grow into their best self. Investing in your teen’s mental health is investing in their future.

Are you and your partner facing challenges that feel difficult to overcome? Do you want to enhance communication, deepen connection, and create a more fulfilling partnership? Couples therapy can provide a transformative space to explore these concerns. Exploring Relationship Patterns Many conflicts in relationships stem from unconscious patterns, past experiences, or early relational influences. Using a psychodynamic approach, I help couples uncover these patterns, understand their origins, and explore how they shape interactions today. This awareness allows couples to respond more thoughtfully and break cycles that may have caused repeated tension. Improving Communication and Emotional Connection Communication is at the heart of any thriving relationship. In therapy, including men's therapy, I guide couples to express emotions safely, listen actively, and understand each other’s underlying needs. Strengthening communication promotes empathy, reduces conflict, and nurtures emotional intimacy. Resolving Conflict and Rebuilding Trust Disagreements and breaches of trust are natural in relationships. Couples therapy offers tools for healthy conflict resolution, fostering compromise, and rebuilding trust when it has been damaged. By addressing these issues within a safe and supportive environment, partners can restore security, deepen understanding, and move forward together. Strengthening Intimacy and Connection Over time, life’s pressures can strain emotional closeness. Therapy helps couples reconnect on a deeper level, explore vulnerabilities, and cultivate greater emotional intimacy. By understanding the patterns that influence interactions, partners can build a resilient and loving bond. Navigating Life Transitions Couples therapy is also valuable for preparing for major transitions such as marriage, parenthood, or retirement. Support during these periods helps couples approach change as a united, resilient team, fostering shared growth and understanding. Additionally, therapy for veterans can provide specialized support for those facing unique challenges in relationships. Investing in couples therapy can transform your relationship and overall well-being. Together, we can explore patterns, build insight, and strengthen connection to create a partnership that thrives.
